The estate was previously owned by the late Mr Kokkie Erasmus and his forefathers since 1845 and was part of the Grootfontein farm. The Sinovich group of companies bought the farm from the Erasmus family in 1997 and development on the estate started in 1999 with Kenny Boyes appointed as sole marketing agent for Rietvlei View Country estate in 2001. Mr Kokkie Erasmus kept 15 hectares of the original farmland, which included the farmhouse for himself where he lived until he passed away in 2004. The Erasmus family also built a horse racetrack during 1970 on the farm, which today is known as Sinovich drive.
